The new Barbie Dolls VS. African Dolls

Finally, Mattel Inc, the makers of Barbie decided it was time to add 3 categories of dolls to their production:

  • – The Petite (appealing to people who are on the short side)
  • – The Curvy (Appealing to people who have been blessed with a curvaceous body)
  • – The Tall (Well this audience for this is obvious)

While we’d like to applaud their decision, we can’t help but ask why it took this long for them to realize not every one in the world is white, has silky hair with blue eyes.

Mattel’s neglect of the Non-Silky Hair, Non-White population, has led to sporadic inventions from entrepreneurs like the Makers of Queens of Africa (from Nigeria) and Ntomb’entle (From South Africa) seen below. These dolls reportedly outsell Barbie dolls in Africa. Although, we are glad Mattel is finally budging the curve, we’re sure the new dolls still ain’t got nothing on the Dolls from our African Entrepreneurs.
