Zimbabwe: Our currency is crap, let’s adopt the Chinese ‎¥Yen !

Last year the history of Zimbabwe and the entire continent of Africa changed when its government decided to do away with its own currency – The Zimbabwean dollar. This happened after the Chinese Government cancelled $40 Million of its debt. This means Zimbabwe will now be using the Chinese yen as its legal tender.

Which begs this question – What are Chinese people doing that we Africans aren’t? This is a country that crawled, sprawled and walked its way from being one of the world’s developing country to a nation now buying other nations.

Unfortunately, this is not isolated to Zimbabwe alone. As of today, not only does China hold majority of the debts owed by the United States, the country’s citizens now control major private companies in West Africa !

Its not good enough to sit and complain so lets all make a pledge as individuals and fellow Africans to do whatever we can to foster each other’s businesses, provide resources to one another, support education, provide excellent customer service (if you’re running a business), embrace networking. For if we fail, our respective countries have failed !

  1. African nations unlike western nations and the Asian moguls are selfish selfseekers.

Individual nations are much concerned with their own development than the collective development of this continent. South Africa and Nigeria to be precise. Other nations aren’t far behind on that same path.

We are so busy trying to prove ourselves to the world that we have no time to sit, plan and strategise to integrate and consolidate efforts that would ensure our rich-in-resource continent and her impoverished sons and daughters are lifted from this pit of dehumanizing poverty.

  2. His country loves evil that why love to keep the useless devil so long. Now the country grounded, what is the benefit of fighting for Independence? Mugabe, God is far from you. Release your people from bandage

  3. Hahaha, this is a lie. The Zimbabwean Dollar has not been in use for a while. I was in Zimbabwe a couple of weeks ago and they mainly use the US dollar. Some places will take the Botswana Pula or South African rand

    1. Hey Milton, the adoption of the Yen actually started last year. Of course, the Zimbabwean dollar has sunk in value over the years with many transactions being executed in other currencies. The country however, formally adopted the Yen last year as its legal tender. Does that mean people over there will immediately switch. Absolutely not 🙂

  4. That is why most white countries do call Africa countries name. I can’t imagine Mugabe changing the currency to Yen and, that’s why most Africa countries especially Eastern Africa keep on deteriorating in everything.
